We are nweg

The North West Editors Guild was formed in the summer of 2008 by a group of like-minded editors who realised that the broadcast industry in the North West was in need of an independent resource where producers, production managers and facilities houses could find reputable editors, but without the need to pay agency fees. That resource is NWEG.

Editor, Manchester

Paul D Jones

I am a Manchester based Avid editor (with my own full studio if required) with over 20 years experience working on everything from commercial, promo & corporate to broadcast & documentary.

I am fully comfortable working on my own and have done so for years without a producer, however I do enjoy the results yielded from working with an EP.

Prior to going freelance in 2012 I spent 15 years as head of production/post and founding member of a full service agency.

I am fast, meticulous & experienced on Avid (having cut on it since 1998)

I have run and maintained my own edit suite for 20 years and I am therefore very knowledgable in the whole technological process of the full production and post workflow.

I do not list myself as an online editor however I can colour correct and prep/deliver for TV output when absolutely required and have my own symphony suite HOWEVER this is not my chosen area; I am very much a storyteller.

I was a very early adopter of streaming and encoding for the internet (even before broadband) and therefore I have extensive knowledge when it comes to file formats, cameras, codecs and online delivery.

I have cut a long list of amazing artists and some of the world's biggest brands. From artists like The Killers, Tiesto and Babyshambles to brands like Adidas, Microsoft, Unilever, EA sports, UFC and Universal.

I have a lot of experience cutting high impact short form work however I am equally comfortable cutting long-form. The work I most enjoy is crafting fascinating and emotionally driven content.  I am very interested in Documentary work and I'm currently working on a number of short docs, with a handful of different directors, about everything from rapping grannies and disabled skiers, to Holocaust survivors and big wave surfers.

I feel I am easy to work with and make it my aim to get on with everyone; something that has been instilled in me as a client facing representative of a company for 15+ years

Ultimately I just like making cracking content that inspires, motivates and informs.

The fact that I get paid for doing what I love is the cherry on the icing on the top of the cake
